My name is Kristine Arinos. I am 29 and I am currently living in Kfar Yona with my husband and son. I moved to Israel from Vancouver, Canada in 2006.
I met my husband while backpacking in Central America and I moved to Israel on a whim after we had been together for a year. It's not easy living so far away from my family, but I have grown to love Israel: the country, the weather and the people.
I am currently a stay-at-home mom with my son Daniel. Before becoming a mother, I worked as an English teacher to children and adults and I also worked as a personal assistant in a law firm.
It was not until I became pregnant with Daniel that a whole new world opened up to me. I read Janet Balaskas "Active Birth" and immediately began to scour the web in order to educate myself on the subject. I was very satisfied with my labour, but I was lucky to have the support of my Israeli husband to navigate the world of the medical community for me, as my Hebrew was not sufficient at the time.
I believe every woman has a right to labour and give birth in an environment in which she feels the most comfortable and confident. It can be difficult to feel those things in Israel if one is not confident in their ability to communicate in Hebrew. I look forward to providing my service to those women who feel they could not only use the support of a doula, but of someone who speaks their language. Giving birth is such a life changing experience, I love that I can be there to help make that experience a positive one to remember for both the mother and her partner.
Furthermore, I am a certified childbirth educator and I hold prenatal classes in either the client's private home or in a group setting with other English-speaking women and their partners.
