For many people, the idea of birth is at the same time exciting and scary. There is so much to know, and we hope that between our mothers, sisters, books, friends and hospital staff, we will have the knowledge to be comfortable when that magic time comes to go into labor and give birth. Even if it isn't our first time, each time is totally different, and we have to erase all expectatons and start with a “clean canvas”.

The truth is, when that magic time does come, we are transported to another time and space, and everything we learned seems kind of fuzzy.

“What is this feeling? What is this particular pain I'm having? How far along am I? How am I going to do this for so many hours? Is my water broken, or not? What should I do if it is? Can I take a bath/shower? Should I go to the hospital? Can I eat/drink? What are my options?” And so on....

I can help bring clarity into what you are going through, and help you reach your goals for your birth. You can have a positive and inspiring birth experience by having an advocate by your side who can help you avoid unnecessary hospital interventions and Cesarian birth. Your doula supports you physically and emotionally through your pregnancy and your birth, and helps also in acclimation and baby care afterwards.
